The Role
They really make the effort to make you feel comfortable! The culture is absolutely fantastic and the variety of experiences they give you (Bradenham Manor for presentation training, Corporate Responsibility day, Office barbecue etc.) helped me feel valued and taken care of by the company!
They honestly treat you so well, and this is particularly obvious when you compare the way they interact with you compared with other firms that I have interviewed for.
The people are wonderful! There is not one person who would not give you a hand with anything or who would not gladly answer any questions I had (which were a lot)! This goes from everyone in the firm to the most senior members (the Partners)! I really struggled to get to grips with the auditing software and the nature of the work (since I am from a Mathematics background) but the support and guidance helped me get the hang of things very quickly!
I have been on three different clients in the short space I have been here so far - I am actually currently in London on an audit. When I am working on a client, I am very busy - once I complete the tasks I have been set, I ask for more and the in-charge accountant and other members of the team really take their time to slowly explain and answer any queries. Now I can say I am relatively confident in understanding the work I am doing. There was one day I was in the office and I finished everything such that I did not really have much to do for an hour but the company ordered an icecream van to the office and bought free icecream for everyone!
As I mentioned before, the level of responsibility really depends on your eagerness. I wanted to learn as much as possible so whenever I finished a task set for me, I would always ask for more!
The skills I learnt from this is not applicable to my studies since I am studying a Mathematics degree. However, next year I will be taking an Accounting and Finance module in which I feel this experience will enhance my understanding of financial statements and how businesses operate. Of course, I also gained other skills from this placement: communication, teamwork, organisation etc. which are transferable skills to anything you do in life.
The Company
There were moments of seriousness when people were working very hard but generally, the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. I would joke around with colleagues and my manager too!
I was very impressed with how they structured the internship - it had much more variety than I had expected and the work I was given actually contributed to the company from the start. I knew what I would be doing from the start of the internship and I don't think they could have organised it any better.
The time spent coaching me in audit as well as personal development were very good. My managers would spend a lot of time making sure I understood what I was doing and were always happy to help. My buddy was also very friendly and frequently checks up on me to see how I am doing. I was surprised the firm invested so much in us as individuals: providing us two days at Bradenham Manor (amazing accommodation with all-you-can-eat meals), helping out at a primary school in Birmingham, an open bar and rodeo bull at an office social barbecue and the time invested in the professional development of myself to be an Auditor, I am really pleased to have done this internship!

The Culture
I got on well with the interns at my office and met a lot more during my time at Bradenham and the Corporate Responsibility Day!
Cheap - I did not need to pay for travel and the company paid me £25.00 every night I stayed over in London for a job!
I know my colleagues went clubbing after the barbecue but I could not go that night.
Definitely - charity, sports, karaoke, barbecue etc.
