The Role
Felt very welcome when I started and this helped me to settle in and start developing in my role quickly.
Very friendly atmosphere within team and around organsition.
Divisions management were always willing to provide support and guidance.
Became much busier when I was given a long-term project to work on. During quiet periods I was encouraged to use flexi-time and book courses for myself.
Within a week of joining I was given responsibility over several key processes. Despite feeling nervous, support was always provided when needed.
Working for a year in an organisation at the centre of economic policy in the UK has provided me with an invaluble experience. I have been able to enhance my economic understanding measurably, but also acquired and developed a range of new soft skills.
The Company
Atmosphere within division was excellant. Relationship between management and staff always allowed communication to flow both ways. Being aware of this openess encouraged me to voice my view (whether positive or negative)
13 month contract allowed for a 1 month handover at the start of my placement, and a 1 month handover to the next placement student at the end of my placement. The starting handover was vital for the seamless handover. Also, by having a placement student handover allowed them to pass on key knowledge and to speak from experience.
Bank of England were always willing to cover the cost of seminars or courses that I wished to go on.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym

The Bank of England provide a great graduate training scheme that is well established. The one point that causes me to mark them down is the competiveness of their graduate scheme.
The Culture
Events were organised early on as part of induction, but later on in the year contact with fellow placement students decreased.
As the Bank of England is in the centre of the City of London, the cost of living/socialising was very expensive. However various bars do offer half priced drinks at various times through the week.
See above
The Bank of England have a great Community Outreach department.
