The Role
It provided me with an opportunity to get to see how Environmental Affairs operates within a large multinational company. During my placement I dealt with a vast range of topics and had exposure to many different areas of Environmental Affairs.
Environmental Affairs is a small team so I felt very valued and an integral part throughout my year.
Great exposure to all areas of the business and would often have meetings with the MD of the company.
The type of work dependas on what is happening so is always fluctuating but throughout the whole year I had a good level of work
Given responsibility for a number of projects, some of which I thought up myself and project managed throughout, other times I had to submit information to comply with legislation.
Developed a fantastic range of skills which will stand me in good stead for any graduate job.
The Company
Small team
There was a lot of emphasis placed on me to decide what I wanted to focus on and was able to use my own initiative to come up with my own projects.
I was given training courses in all the programmes that I used as well as other personal development and practical training. My manager explained a lot about the areas of work and involved me in meetings he felt would be of interest to e, even though sometimes I would not be directly working on that topic.
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Panasonic do not run a Graduate scheme but have taken back a number of previous placement students in the past. Environmental Affairs/ Energy is a growing area of the company so there may be a job in the future.
The Culture
There were a total of 15 placement students in the head office in Bracknell and 11 of those lived in houses across the road from each other in Reading so kept a student lifestyle outside of work.
Reading was very reasonable, rent was quite cheap
Reading was a bit disappointing having come from University of Leeds but there is a big university here and a few bars and clubs in town so there is still an OK nighlife.
Depends how active you are, what activities you want to do. There are gym classes, football and badminton on site.
