The Role
I found my internship to be a very rewarding opportunity where I gained a true insight into the the auditor role within KPMG.
As the weeks progressed I was being allocated more and more responsibility gaining the trust and respect from my fellow colleagues.
Supervisors were always very approachable and happy to answer any of my queries.
This varied with each different client, but I was always given plenty of work to complete. Some teams I was given more challenging work, for example in smaller teams.
The amount of responsibility given to me increased throughout my placement. I was being given work that graduate joiners would have to do and I think my work was a high standard.
I learnt a wide variety of skills, such as communicating effectively with senior members of staff at clients. This has helped my confidence and professionalism. I have gained knowledge and practice with working in a high profile company and this I can use after my degree.
The Company
Everyone was very welcoming and helpful. I feel like my personality matched the environment I was working in.
The placement was well organised, I was exposed to a wide rang of clients and worked with several different teams. This was all organised prior to my placement.
KPMG were keen to give me more responsibility and wanted me to gain an insight into the roles that I would undertake in a full time job with them. The large amount of client exposure and variety in my work showed that they were keen for me to see the scope of clients that they work with.

I have attended my final partner interview and was successful so will be part of the Graduate intake in 2013.
The Culture
Everyone was really friendly and organised a few lunches out and drinks after work.
I was able to live at home during my placement and commute so I had no living expenses.
The nightlife is average but there is a social scene and people are very keen to go out.
I was invited to attend a golfing afternoon and we had a team building day organised during my placement.
