The Role
PLEASE NOTE: This review was for a placement at Lloyds TSB prior to Lloyds TSB merging with HBOS to become Lloyds Banking Group. (The RateMyPlacement Team) Some jobs were very repetitive but I had a great team and I was happy to go to work,
I was the lowest member of my team so felt perhaps a little undervalued. By the individuals I supported were very grateful and would ask for me in person.
Policies in place from upper management were often misplaced but my line manager and his were both very supportive.
Very slow to start but during the year I was kept busy every day.
Some jobs were fairly menial but at other times I was expected to manage projects myself.
I learnt very little technical knowledge but gained a lot of experience dealing with management, my customers and operating in a corporate environment.
The Company
Open plan office, possibly a little loud but friendly.
Placement scheme seemed well organised with involvement from current placement students.
Lloyds TSB paid for me to go on a 4 day training course to learn Active Directory. Other courses available to normal staff were made available to me.
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
I've been offered a conditional place after University which I am considering accepting.
The Culture
Social scene was good with many placement students placed in London.
Cost of living in London is high. Trade rent with travel times.
Nightlife?! I lived in London!
Lloyds TSB covered the cost of regular end-of-project events. My team supported lots of projects so were invited to lots of events. Charity events were also encouraged but nothing much in the way of sports.
