The Role
I can honestly say that after speaking to my peers at a university recall day that I have had the best placement where I had high responsibility and many exciting challenges/opportunities throughout.
As with anywhere it takes a while to settle in but, my department could not have done anything more to make me feel at home. They made a big deal out of my birthday and were always thanking me for any work undertaken.
My manager could not always spend time supporting me so another member from the department took me under his wing and consistently supported me throughout the year.
At first things were a bit slow and it tends to fluctuate. However, after about 6 months I was constantly busy and as long as you are pro-active in requesting work you will always have stuff to do.
I'm not going to claim that I was running the place although, at SAP an intern team is put together to run the recruitment for the following year's interns. This ranged from organising/running assessment days to checking CVs.
My weakest attribute was time management and this year I have managed to address that along with learning many important life skills as well as business skills.
The Company
The office can be upbeat when deemed necessary but, it is a professional environment. We often had champagne and cake for birthdays/leavers in the office and everyone gets on so well.
It was all very well organised considering the programme is only in it's third year. There are plenty of sessions organised for on-boarding and rarely a hitch.
The company invested a lot in myself personally. They sent me on a number of courses including presentation training and a course on SAP software. It is also possible to request further training as my colleagues have had training in negotiation skills and finance. They really invest in you for the future.

I would be delighted if I was offered a job back with SAP. This really is a company going places and they pay well.
The Culture
We organised many events amongst ourselves as there are 18 of us this year and there will be 28 starting in August. These activities ranged from football to nights out, meals and house parties.
You are near London so it is not as cheap as up north but, much cheaper than living centrally in the city. Expect anywhere between £350-£500 a month for rent. Nights out depend on whether you go places like Richmond/Windsor that are much more affordable than central London where clubs can be £20 to get in.
The surrounding area isn't great as it isn't a student area but you have the options to go to Richmond/Windsor. Egham also has a uni so the students head to Windsor on Thursdays. London is accessible plus the company puts on parties every quarter with a massive xmas do.
Yes, we have a football team that trains on Wednesdays after work and I just recently got back from the company world cup hosted in Germany.
