The Role
Really enjoyed the internship, I got a lot of responsibility and did the same work as a graduate. The work was enjoyable and my team were lovely.
I think my colleagues appreciated my work and always gave me feedback and development points for future work. I was treated as one of the team.
I had a buddy who was always there to answer my questions, specific to work and also just the company. I also had an intern manager who was really helpful at sorting out partner shadowing and finding interesting work for me to help out with. I also had a counsellor who I met often to see how the internship was going and guide my internship path.
Generally I was really busy because I took on a lot of work but I could have always said no to taking on more work if I wanted to. Its up to you to find as much work as you want. Sometimes there is less work in the department that'll you be able to help with.
I was doing all the same work as a graduate so I felt really involved with the role and not just an intern. I was doing client work and large sections of reports that went to them
What I learnt won't help me in my degree but it's definitely really useful to know how group companies work and international tax. My experience will definitely help my career
The Company
The atmosphere generally was relaxed and friendly
Really well organised but I was surprised near the end with an email saying I would be on rotation for the last week. This could have been communicated to me earlier.
Members of my team invested a lot of time in helping me understand everything as with my arts background, I didn't know much at all
Company Parties/Events
If you perform well and gather good feedback, you are most likely to be offered a job
The Culture
There were at least 2 intern events a week as there were events run by the summer internship team and also by a social committee formed by interns.
London is really expensive and so are most of the bars and clubs
Nightlife was good, different to university clubs but still fun with all the interns
There's opportunities to join sports teams, do volunteering etc.
