The Role
The work placement was a great deal of fun. Good amount of work and fun socials.
My colleagues, particularly in my first team, were clearly looking out for me. They made a real effort to make sure that I was having a good time.
I was able to ask my supervisors pretty much any question, and they were looking to find me work.
Could have done with a little more work, but on the whole it was a good balance.
I was not given much responsibility at all, but this is (surely) to be expected. I don't think that I would have felt particularly comfortable if I had been given any real responsbility!
The training is unlikely to help me in my degree course, but will certainly help in a city work environment.
The Company
Serious and hard working, but friendly.
The placement was well organised on the whole. Often we had to wait for various members of the group to all arrive in one place, but that was perhaps to be expected. Socials were good fun.
The firm clearly wants us to apply and has invested a lot of time and effort (and money) into this programme. They are not just assessing us but are looking to help us make the choice to become lawyers, or help develop us as lawyers if our minds are already made up.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Difficult to say precisely, but they have invested a great deal in us at this point.
The Culture
The other vacation schemers were good fun, particularly after getting over the initial hurdle of realising that we are not being watched/assessed 24/7.
Socialising in London is expensive. But we already knew that.
Nightlife isn't fantastic around the office, but that doesn't bother me.
There were a few sporting opportunities, but not a great deal more than that. The placement was really designed to help us to get a better idea of the office environment.
