The Role
I really enjoyed my time at Towers Watson, in particular the people are great and it's a very relaxed working environment. There's a real social element to it and I found I really liked working in pensions.
They were all very welcoming, but obviously it takes a while to settle in.
My manager was really approachable and would always pop over for a chat just to see how I was getting on which was really nice. We got given feedback midway through which was really helpful in assessing what we needed to work on going forward.
I was approached by a lot of people asking me to do work for them and they always ask if you have capacity so it's up to you how much you take on. I'm quite bad at saying no so I was always quite busy but I liked it that way!
A fair bit of the work I was doing was going directly/indirectly to clients so I felt like I was given a fair bit of responsibility.
From the small things like being in an office environment and working with those more senior to you to the actual finer details of pensions, I think I have learnt a lot.
The Company
Really relaxed - people worked hard but were always up for a laugh!
Felt very organised, always knew what was going on in advance.
Not much training at this stage but I know there is a lot once you join the company.
Subsidised Canteen
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Haven't quite finished yet but they offer a lot of interns graduate positions so future employment rates are very high!
The Culture
It was really good fun with all the other interns!
London is always going to be expensive!
Really good but again, expensive!
Loads of socials were always organised, be it netball for the girls, or drinks after work, or their annual boat party which was great!
