The Role
I thourghly enjoyed my internship at Grant Thornton.
I felt very integrated and accepted by all of the people I worked with. Everyone was extremelly friendly, approachable and willing to help if you needed it. There were also many socials where I was able to meet new people and get to know them in a different type of environment.
My line manager was extremelly supportive and was able to give me support and advice when I was considering my future career options.
Some days were busier than others depending on the workload, however I always had something to keep me busy.
As I began to understand what was expected of me and gained a good understanding of what I was working on, I was given more responsibility.
We were sent on a two day course to learn presentation skills, the course was extremelly interesting and this will be something that I can use in universtiy and in any future presentations.
The Company
There was a good work/life balance in my office.
We were given a timetable at the start with all of the events that were organised during the 6 weeks.
I was given support in any areas I was unsure about and set objectives at the start with my line manager to help me develop and get the most from my internship.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
I am very hopeful that I will be offered a graduate job.
The Culture
There were many orgainised event and also spontanious nights out with my team and my fellow interns and placement students.
I was living and socialising in London which was quite expensive in some areas but it was affordable.
Many bars and clubs to go to after work.
There were many networking events, away days, sporting activities etc to get involved in.
