The Role
The Spring Internship was informative and well-structured. I am amazed by the high standard of people who BAML recruited and therefore very much enjoyed my time with colleagues.
We are all new to the bank so everyone are very welcoming.
There wasn't a specific mentor for me because the Spring Internship was short 1 week. But this could potentially improve during summer internship.
Not as busy as other internship - very much an introduction to the bank than doing real work.
Very much to give us an idea of what all the divisions do - we as interns are not yet qualified to handle work ourselves.
I believe this internship gives me a better idea of what I want to do and leave me with valuable connections for my future opportunities.
The Company
More serious than other places - we visited both offices of BAML (Merrill Lynch Financial Center and HQ in Canary Wharf) - from my observations, people were very into what they were doing.
Some sessions ran over a bit but most of the time the day finished with all the objectives achieved.
Very much - they get the seniors (VP and MDs) to attend breakfast and lunches with us which was amazing.
I'm on the stage of being accessed to next year's internship - still very much hope to foster my experience with BAML further more.
The Culture
We caught up for drinks and dinner afterwards.
The City is an expensive place! But I'm based in london so it wasnt too bad for me. BAML sponsored accommodation for those outside London which made it easier in term of finance.
The City is dead at night.
They organised a few night out during the week as well as dinners and networking drinks.
