The Role
Each day during the 6 weeks offered something different and enjoyable.
I felt part of the overall team and enjoyed the responsibility that came with the work that I was given.
I was guided and advised every step of the way during my internship. EY has a great stucture of counsellors and buddies to help you both at internship and graduate level.
Most days I was busy on work. Some days the office was a little quieter with less work, but I always had a project to be getting on with
I felt that I was given as much responsibility that my technical knowledge allowed. Obviously with no previous tax knowledge I couldn't be given a whole project to work on, but the work I was given, I was left to get on with.
Some of the skills, both tax specific and personnel will be useful for life. Being able to speak to clients directly and on the telephone was a great experience.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was great. Although very proffesional when working/dealing with clients, there was a good atmosphere and everyone was friendly!
The internship was well planned. Although the work was dependent on clients, when I didn't have client work to do I was always kept busy with my intern project.
EY invested a lot into the development of me as a person. I always had a senior to help me through certain things, and also some formal training was offered.
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
There is a good chance that I will be offered the job after my internship, and this is similar for most interns I believe.
The Culture
The office was quite small, and sometimes the other interns were away at different cities. When we were all in Newcastle though, we arranged for a few nights out for drinks and meals.
Newcastle really is as cheap as chips
Nightlife in Newcastle is brilliant, and so cheap!
There were opportunities throughout the internship to get involved with other things, and as a graduate there would difinitely be loads of opportunities to get involved with.
