The Role
EY is a really great company to work for. The internship programme is structured really well and everyone does their best to make sure you get the most out of your internship.
Before this I have heard so much about how the working culture of EY is what separates them from the rest of the big 4, and now I can understand why! Everyone is very welcoming and sincere, constantly telling me that it's alright if I don't understand, as well as giving acknowledgement after I've completed a task.
Along with the friendliness, my colleagues were also extremely helpful, including the more senior ones. They would take their time and sit with me to go through every aspect of their work in extensive detail, which made everything much easier.
My department is highly dependent on the number of projects coming in at a point in time, and with the Olympics and summer holidays, things at this period of the year are usually slower than normal, but they still always ensured I have things to do, like case studies.
They were very good in gauging my progress and gradually increasing the level of responsibility given to me.
I feel I was able to get exposure to a wide range of aspects required by the job, not just restricted to technical skills, which will undoubtedly come in handy in the future.
The Company
It really felt like a family, everyone makes tea/coffee for everyone. It felt so bizarre when the partner came up to me asking if I want a cup of tea.
There is a counselling meeting in the beginning, middle and end of the internships to identify objectives and ensure they are met.
EY takes extremely great care of all their employees.

The Culture
Apart from the induction event and end of internship event, which are amazing, the rest of the socials were organised by the interns ourselves.
Birmingham's cost of living can be as cheap as you want it to be.
There are a few decent places at Broad St / Brindleyplace.
There was an EY-KPMG hockey tournament, which was interesting. Loads of charity work opportunities too.
