The Role
I really enjoyed my placement at Bradenham Manor which definitely gives an edge to Grant Thornton over the other competitors as it was such a well organised training.
The environment was exceptionally friendly and there was no problem in socialising with the rest of the colleagues. The whole internship was tailored for delivering the best internship experience. The environment felt like I had been working at Grant Thornton for years. Although I had no prior knowledge about audit, the tasks I completed were always valued by my colleagues as of high importance.
Since the start of the placement I was given support from the management. We were constantly told to ask questions without any hesitation which lead to an environment of comfort and ease.
The tasks given throughout the internship were in such a way that every minute of the placement I learned something new. Although I was kept very busy but it was balanced in such a way that I ever felt annoyed by the work as the environment was kept so friendly throughout. There were even days when I had to work a little late than usual but the whole team was always there with me to give support and advice.
I believe since my first day of the placement, I was never given the feeling of someone with no prior knowledge about audit. I felt as if I had been given much more responsibility than I had expected to be given before the placement.
I believe the training given will definitely help me in my final year of education as well as for the rest of my life. I was never as confident as I am now in delivering presentations and working in teams. I did take part in an extra course by one of the entrepreneurial societies in my universities and I could feel a huge change in me when I dealt with people in a social gathering and working with them.
The Company
Although it was not an office based job but I can tell about the general environment in my teams I had worked with. I worked with 4 different teams in 4 weeks and each one of them had a very friendly environment throughout. Although we were working throughout the day but I never felt the environment was dull and there was always a chance to strike a small off topic conversation with any of the colleagues.
I think the overall internship experience was perfect and I couldn't have asked for anything better. It exceeded my expectations at the start of the internship. In each of the 4 weeks had something different and new planned for me which gave me the best possible skills set I could attain in such short period of training.
Grant Thornton invested almost everything in terms of personal training and development. Not only they did invest financially but the time and patience shown by each and every person I interacted with really did show the commitment from Grant Thornton in delivering the best experience for me.

I really hope to continue working for Grant Thornton after my graduation. It was a wonderful experience during the internship.
The Culture
Every week there was a social event of some sort and everybody from the office was invited. Apart from that I remained in contact with my fellow internees through an IM service of the company.
I have been living in Birmingham city center for over 2 years and my office was also based in the same location. It wasn't any change to me but my audits were in client's locations which had varying costs but not too expensive at all where I worked.
I rate Birmingham's nightlife as 7 stars when compared to other cities I have been to.
There were quite a lot activities to take part in throughout the internship such as sports events or bowling event or drinks. I could not take part in many though due to working in other cities during my audits which made me miss some of the events but there was always a chance to go somewhere with the colleagues.
