The Role
I enjoyed my placement in Audit but understood that in order to fully enjoy it I would need the training that would enable me to do more complex jobs.
Everyone was approachable and helpful, and treated me as a colleague rather than someone who was just there for a bit. The best aspect of the internship was definitely the people.
My career counsellor has been really helpful, and on every client I have been on the Executive in charge has been too.
Some days I had very little to do, but this was mainly because the client I was working on were slow with their information.
I was given quite a bit of responsibility, I was allowed to approach the client, and to do aspects of work individually. I wasn't given more responsibility because of my lack of training, I understand, and so I do not think this is a negative on EY's part.
I think the people skills, as well as the insight to the Audit world will help immensely both in the last year of my course, but also when I am deciding what to do after I finish university.
The Company
Everyone was lovely, friendly and chilled, and willing to have a laugh as well as working hard.
Very well organised.
As much training as we could have been given without drowning in it all was given to us.
I would love to work with EY and hope to get an offer.
The Culture
Everyone got on very well and when we were all in the same place we made an effort to meet up.
It was fine, not too expensive but mostly because I found cheaper accommodation than most.
Fine, not amazing but standard and fun.
There were both office-wide and interns-based activities that it was possible to get involved in.
