The Role
The programme was packed with networking events, departmental briefings, firm drinks and socials. The level of responsibility I received throughout the three weeks took me by surprise.
Having an assigned supervisor and buddy in place ensures that the students can have any queries answered.
My supervisor in particular would give me a briefing most mornings over a coffee. He provided me with valuable advice in working for a commercial law firm.
Having sat in the Banking and Finance department, I was extremely busy. Particularly so when a deal was close to completion. On average, I would work from 9am to 7am.
Towards the end, as I grew into the role and the department realised my potential; I was given the opportunity to advise clients on certain matters.
The placement has given me the necessary hunger to go and finish my last year at University in style. I have developed my communicational skills, time management and be able to provide clearer, more condensed legal advice.
The Company
A very friendly atmosphere which struck the balance between professionalism and friendliness.
The programme was set up perfectly. The induction was not too long or too short and we were able to get working in our departments from the offset. The programme ensured that we could meet everyone at the firm whilst doing department work.
We had briefing talks in the mornings which gave us information regarding each seat at the firm. The range of work I had in my seat ensured that I have developed throughout the scheme.
Company Parties/Events
Very appealing as they are one of the very few firms take on trainees exclusively from the placement.
The Culture
We got on very well. We would go out as one big group on a Friday night and we all will stay in touch in the future.
As to be expected. Standard London prices.
A wide-range of pubs with Leicester Square being incredibly close via tube or bus.
There were countless opportunities. The ten pin bowling and karaoke social was a true highlight.
