The Role
Incredibly enjoyable scheme. One of the best internships I have ever done.
Highly inclusive culture; a great degree of personal attention even in a large firm.
Excellent support; undoubtedly brilliant lawyers and support staff and greatly caring to help you learn.
A fair amount of work, but lots of excellent socials and a great work hard / play hard vibe in the office. Truly a perfect balance.
Whilst they make sure to start you off slowly, responsibility picks up and if you impress with the easy tasks, it is not long before substantive jobs are given. By the end I was reporting back on a significant matter and I was greatly valued by the team, despite being a lowly vacation scheme student!
Utterly brilliant training and development. I am surprised at how much I learned; technical legal knowledge and commercial awareness was built up through a very challenging project we had to complete, and negotiation skills and teamwork through mock client pitch exercises and mediation role-plays. The lectures were incredible and I learned a lot that I would not be told elsewhere about the role and life of a commercial lawyer in the City.
The Company
Hard working but the firm places a premium on its people and this really shows.
One of the best-structured internships I have ever seen. Ran like clockwork.
[See above answer on training and development.]
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
High statistical prospect of obtaining a training contract. A guaranteed interview accompanies the scheme.
The Culture
Brilliant social environment, both amongst fellow students and trainees.
Naturally an expensive area but reasonably priced activities are plenty, and travel is convenient due to its central location.
Brilliant nightlife.
Far more opportunities than I could have imagined; sports clubs, societies etc. The number of people and enterprising attitude means that almost any desire is catered for.
