The Role
My daily role was quite varied as I worked on different quarterly projects as well as other on-going analysis, and other ad hoc daily tasks.
The office was very open plan and the 9 or so placement students in the office all sat amongst the managers and directors, which helped us work alongside others. Other field-based collegues were all very welcoming and very easy to get along with as were others in and and around the office
Everyone I worked alongside was very helpful and more often than not did their best to sort out any problems I/or a team of us had to deal with. My direct manager worked from home on Thursday and Friday at times but this wasn't a problem.
There were times during busy end of quarters and end of projects when deadlines had to be met and I was very busy, and there were other times when I had to ask for work to do. The role wasn't as demanding as other placement roles, however the more I put in, the more I got out.
I had a moderate input to quarterly promotional catalogues and was often consulted when other decisions had to be made. I think like any job, the more responsibility I asked for and wanted, the more I recieved and the more I got consulted
I have developed much better time management and organisational skills. Some of the modules I have done have related to the work I did on my placement which did help a lot as in my exams I could use Bosch as a case study example. As far as training goes, I had two days power tool training at the start which has been useful when attempting some DIY, but not that useful for exams!
The Company
There was quite a relaxed culture around the office as there was a good demographic mix of people. The dress code was quite laxed and the open plan layout made it a good atmosphere to work in
No problems at all, the company has a lot of placement students so understood how much of a useful resource we were. The week/2 week handover period was also very good to help you fit in
There were language and computer courses available and many other training and development opportunities. The best being the quarterly conferences which aided my understanding of the products we sold, the marketing strategies adopted and the performance of the company.

I wouldn't mind working for Bosch again as I really enjoyed my placement year, but I will probably try something new and different
The Culture
Yes. We all worked closely together when working which meant there was always some banter to be had, plus we all lived close to each other outside of work which made it easier for socials!
Denham is quite an affluent area but as students we managed to find cheap places to go in Uxbridge which was only 5 minutes away
There are lots of good pubs in Denham but expensive, however Uxbridge wasn't too bad and the big smoke was only 40 train ride away
There were a few sports teams such as football and cricket plus many fun runs, bike rides and the marathon team to get involved in, so there were many opportunities if your willing to get involved
