The Role
The placement was extremely enjoyable due to the huge efforts of the firm to make you feel like you're really a Nabarro employee for the 3 weeks. I think it has been the best placement for really getting a feel of what normal life would be like working here.
My colleagues were really friendly and always interested in chatting with me. In the first week, my department took me out for a welcome lunch which I thought was lovely of them and throughout the 3 weeks always included me in anything that was going on.
My supervisor gave me a lot of work and support compared with other placements where I only worked with a trainee 'buddy'. I couldn't have asked for a better supervisor in terms of support, guidance and interest in my learning and development.
My work flow was generally steady, completing a piece of work at a time. There weren't any occasions where I felt I had too much work to do but equally, there was never a point where I was twiddling my thumbs - perfect balance!
The work I was given was always related to ongoing deals in the department which I really enjoyed because it meant I was making a contribution to the team, as opposed to doing 'made up' tasks. I felt that my supervisor trusted me to have a good stab at things and then would always go through my work with me afterwards to explain any changes.
I think this is the placement where I have finally cemented my understanding of what goes on in a Corporate department/transaction and in which I have been producing high quality work.
The Company
Everyone in the office is very chatty and interested in getting to know you. They all seemed to be good friends, there's no obvious hierarchy and it was an enjoyable atmosphere to work in.
We received a very detailed schedule for the full 3 weeks on the first day so it was easy to plan ahead in relation to where you needed to be and when for presentations, assessments, feedback etc. I think a lot of effort has gone into organising the placement and it has been very much appreciated.
As well as the work given in the department which was of a challenging standard, we had to work in groups to complete a project throughout the 3 weeks. This really developed my teamworking and presentation skills which are things I can definitely go on to use in the future.

I would be extremely happy if I received a training contract offer from Nabarro. It is a firm that does great work, is in a good location and is full of friendly and interesting people who I know would make my days at work enjoyable.
The Culture
My fellow placement students have been lovely and it's great to have made some new friends during this 3 weeks that I will keep in touch with. One evening we went chocolate tasting which was amazing and something new for everyone! I went out for lunch and drinks with my department a couple of times so it shows that even when the department is very busy, people are still keen to have a break and get together.
I was commuting from Leeds so didn't get to explore Sheffield too much but very kindly, the socials we went on were paid for by Nabarro and the canteen in the office was very cheap!
We had some good nights out particularly in the final week when we went to a Comedy Club which was really good fun.
We went on a couple of social evenings, I had drinks one night with my department and on the first day HR took us for drinks after work. We also had the project to do throughout the 3 weeks so worked in our groups on that outside work.
