The Role
I was in a small department which meant that everybody was really friendly and that I got plenty of responsibility. Loved the firm and fantastic facilities!
Once you could prove that you were capable of doing some decent work (obviously commensurate to your requisite level of ability), your supervisors weren't afraid to give you larger and more interesting assignments.
Depended on the task, really. But in general they were fairly supportive. Also depends on how busy your various supervisors are...
Again, heavily dependent upon whichever department that you've been allocated to, but because I was in a small group, meant that I got plenty of work. I don't think I left the office any day earlier than 6pm.
As above, plenty of responsibility, as long as you could prove that you could deliver on tasks.
Relevant to any professional services job, especially if you sit in one of the big departments like banking or corporate - skills are very transferable to allied professions such as investment banking.
The Company
Everybody was very friendly and amicable within the department I was allocated to.
Graduate recruitment were really on the ball and planned some really good events for us. Additionally, supervisors are generally happy to spend the time explaining things to you and supporting you, within reasonable limits.
Plenty of practice area talks and the impression that I got, from talking to other trainees etc, was that there is plenty of continuous training and professional development available.

Would love it! Amazing work, fantastic people and awesome building - albeit they're in Canary Wharf which isn't quite everybody's cup of tea...
The Culture
All of the other vacation scheme students were really friendly and everybody got along well. We didn't really do much after-work stuff though (such as going out as a group).
Being Canary Wharf, it's REALLY commercial - everything there is a chain of some sort. That being said, it is slightly cheaper than being in the City and you can actually find some really decent places which are moderately priced after a bit of a hike (10-15 mins away).
It's Canary Wharf... short of dining (a lot) there's not much of a nightlife at all...
Outside of graduate recruitment events, there wasn't much formal stuff (like sports or pro bono work) which we were offered. Nonetheless, having talked to trainees and associates, there are plenty of the above to get into and I've heard that the firm is generally supportive of you participating in those things.
