The Role
This work placement was fantastic. It broadened my knowledge of marketing, which is great because I study engineering and wanted to be exposed to another area other than engineering. I believe GSK have designed their summer experience well so that students get the most out of the opportunity.
I got on so well with my colleagues. They would help me with my work and be supportive of my achievement. Many stayed in touch with me after I had left to go back to university to see how well I was doing.
My manager was fantastic. He always got me work to do if I told him i was running low on work and always made sure I was okay with tasks and didnt feel like I was struggling.
I had the perfect balance of work. I was always busy enough to not feel bored but still had time to learn about the company and develop as an individual.
I was given a lot of responsibility, the company allowed me to attend meetings and make decisions and get involved with the team.
I believe that this placement really opened my eyes to other areas of business that are important and need to be considered other than just engineering.
The Company
There was a great atmosphere in the office, I never experienced any problems.
I experienced no problems during the internship, all information was sent through in advance.
I believe that the company invested a lof into each of us internships. They checked regularly to see how we were getting on and set us interesting projects that helped us to develop as individuals.

I would love to work for GSK in the future. They are a fanatastic company and have some great talented staff whom work for them.
The Culture
I had such a great summer with my other placement students. We went out and visited all the sites of London and had some lovely day trips and nights out.
I was living in London so as one can imagine it was extremely expensive, but it was worth the money for the experience.
Its London so there is always something to do every night of the week, if anything you wanted a night in occasionally to catch up on sleep and stop spending money.
There were quite a few opportunities such as going out for work meals, i went out for 2 with my team alone.
