The Role
The internship was very enjoyable. It was very well organised and provided a valuable insight into how an international Law Firm operates.
Baker & McKenzie is a genuinely friendly Firm. Everyone was very supportive and approachable. I was made to feel at home very quickly.
Every task I was given was put in context to enable me to understand the wider picture. In addition, feedback was readily available once the work had been reviewed.
There was never a moment where I felt bored. The work flow was constant. There were times when I more work, but this was never overwhelming.
Once the work was explained, I was responsible for ensuring it was completed by the deadline. Given the nature of the deals, the responsibility varied throughout the placement.
The scheme provided me with a valuable insight into how the different areas of law learnt in the classroom apply in everyday life. The skills learnt, in particular those from the presentation skills workshop and the client pitch, will definitely help in the future, both in my academic and professional life.
The Company
The friendly atmosphere within the office made it a very nice place to work.
Constant email contact helped ensure that we were all aware of all events organised both by our individual departments and graduate recruitment. Graduate recruitment were always willing to help out with any questions we had.
Regular presentations gave us a real insight into how the various departments operate. In addition, various meeting with senior management within the Firm also helped us understand the Firm. We were given training in presentation skills and conducting research, which will be very helpful in the future.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
It was a great place to work.
The Culture
The group got on very well together. There was good contact with other Trainees.
Difficult given the central location of the office.
London has great variety with something for everyone
There were opportunities to get involved in the sports clubs and in some of the pro bono events. Graduate recruitment organised various fun after work activities.
