The Role
there were three rotations, each one was very different. I enjoyed much more than others
the culture of ' hazing' from some of the staff, was unacceptable and not a good environment to learn in, how ever this was not common and generally people did value you as much as possible (there is little actual value you can add as an intern)
some mentors were extremely organised and clued up on the process, they set realistic goald that enabled you to expand beyond them if you showed the initative. Some other mentors were the opposite, it was very much up to the intern in this case to make sure they made the most out of the internship, without the introduction it was very much an uphill struggle.
varied depending on what desk you were on and market activity. Trading desks are inhernetly have a much less work load as the intern can add only analytical value.
If you sought out responsibilty you were often encouraged to take it, there were never any limitations but you were never 'given' responsibility.
The Company
being on the trading floor the atmosphere is pretty exciting, different teams are so diverse, its almost like a different company. Some teams are very friendly and joke around alot, others are very focused and rarely 'socialise'
The internship was very well run logistically
UBS invest heavily in their interns, the amount of teaching workshops and activities you are presented with ontop of your internship makes me think, from a learning point of view there is no better internship.
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Very difficult to tell, this process could still be more transparent. However it could be the level it is intentionally
