The Role
Long hours, but really fun work, exciting environment and well motivated people.
Who else would get the coffee?! Well.... joking aside, they had a huge amount of time to invest in me and make sure I got the most out of the placement.
Any questions were enthusiastically answered, and challengin projects given to make sure I was stretched.
More than enough to do from when I get in at 6 50 to when I leave around 19 00.
As much as you can be when the job you are training for involves multi-million pound trades daily. Made several spreadsheets that will be used by the teams I've sat with.
Doesn't really help with my degree but it has changed the way I look at the world, and in particular, the way I read the news. I've come to understand even more, just how bad the tabloid press is, and how they manipulate the general voting public for their ends, whether thats by selling more stories, or chaning the outcome of elections.
The Company
The trading floor is full of very strong characters, so it's certainly never boring. Wouldn't be to everyone's tastes, but I love it.
HR have done a fantastic job, and the whole program has run with many different events, so far, without a hitch.
Massively, many outside speakers have come in, such as motivational coaches as well as the talks from high level management. Also had a lot of time from very busy people on the desks.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Healthcare from home
Big employer, with great jobs!
The Culture
With over 200 students in suits around, with freshly earned cash, there was always going to be a great social scene.
Relatively expensive, but didn't really stop us. And this is London, so there is a lot of choice.
London is great. Easy to travel
If you don't like to sleep, then many company clubs and teams.
