The Role
Excellent for building technical skills, minimal supervision but enough to keep me on track. The only downside was the small number of socialising possibilities since they did not have many interns, and due to the office location.
Very supportive and always there to answer a question.
A lot of support, especially by the on-site development support team.
Flexible work, could start and leave pretty much any time (reasonably) as long as the required hours were done.
Complete control over my large and complex placement project, regular input and guidance from management if got stuck but the design and implementation was mine.
Very useful for understanding the software development lifecycle and building technical skills.
The Company
Atmosphere was good, had fun at times.
HR and management had had a lot of experience placing interns before.
If there was something I needed to learn I simply spent a week at my PC studying, and then applying it. Alternatively there were in-house C++ and more courses available.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
It is a great organisation, has world-wide offices including Miami and Sydney. London is not so great since the office is far from central London.
The Culture
Great socialising between colleagues at the nearby pub, not so much with the other interns.
Cheap compared to central London.
Heathrow...
A lot of sports and other clubs available.
