The Role
Really short programme but gives you a fantastic overview of the firm and its people.
HR were really supportive and your supervisors generally gave you a good overview of the quality of the work, but you weren't given any opportunities to actually do real work.
Again, plenty of support from HR but there was no work done apart from graduate recruitment training sessions.
Really strong calendar with well thought-out events and a full schedule every day.
Apart from participating in graduate recruitment training sessions and workshops (such as a negotiation exercise), you weren't given any real work to do and contact with practice areas involved shadowing.
Again, not a real 'overview' of work but the negotiation exercise and workshops were really beneficial. Not only were you given a genuine overview of the practice areas, but the seminars and personal development workshops gave us plenty of tips both for applying for graduate positions (vacation schemes and training contracts) and professional life more generally.
The Company
Being an insight programme, they do tend to use it more as a marketing opportunity than showing off a 'real work' sort-of environment. That being said, everybody was really friendly and seemed to be fairly outgoing.
Fantastic organisation; they pulled it off flawlessly (and there was plenty of catering to go around!)
I thought that a real differentiating factor was some of the personal development workshops which, to date, no other firm has offered (having completed vacation schemes elsewhere). Apart from this, being a marketing-style insight scheme, it was really just a show-round and an introduction to commercial law, but it still demonstrated how much the firm cares about bringing in talent.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Really enjoyed my time and the firm; would love to get a training contract from them.
The Culture
Most people on the scheme were really friendly and so were the trainees/associates that you shadowed. HR were really nice.
We didn't really go out, apart from graduate recruitment organised functions (which we didn't have to pay for). More generally, being in the City, everything's expensive.
There are some decent places around the City but, again, we didn't go out as a group.
Apart from graduate recruitment functions, we weren't offered any activities outside of the scheme itself.
