The Role
To quite a large extent- its a good insite into the banking and corporate world. Very good for understanding the structure of RBS and exposes you to different business sectors so you can choose which one you really are interested in.
Quite a bit-I joined at the time of half year reporting so there was a lot to be done. If you are keen and speak to your manager they will always give you something to do.
I was provided with alot of support and guidance. Not only the manager but other memebrs of the team are also very friendly and willing to help whenever they can.
It varied from day to day. Some days were pretty busy and i was staying at work till 7 pm or so and others were quite laid back and i always had plenty of free time. Personally i prefered when i had things to do so i didnt quite like the free times. But you can always use that time to reflect on your performance and make notes on what you have learnt.
Quite a bit- was given responsilibity to run various reports and check them.
It a great insite into the banking world. Tells you about the structure, the exposure and various business sectors of the company. You get to experience how people work under pressure and how to behave or work in the corporate world. Also a great insite into the financial softwares and applications used within the Financial World.
The Company
The department i worked in was basically quite busy and people generally just worked most of the time.
Very good. We were given plans and timelines. Provided with people to contact if you need to talk about something. The payment was always on time and everything was timely and organised and ran accordingly from the moment i filled in the application form.
During the internship we were given a few presentations about a few things for information but the training doesnt really start until you are on a graduate programme.
The chances are pretty good depending on you show a keen interest and perform well.
The Culture
There are intern and graduate drinks organised every Friday or so where you can meet fellow interns and other graduates. People are very friendly and we even have a Intern Sports day!!
I was working in the City so yes it is a pretty expensive area but the travelling is pretty good here so it isnt a bad idea getting an accomodation a few miles away and taking the train.
Quite good. Many nice places to go to.
Yes, there was fundraising, work lottery and many other things.
