The Role
Due to the internship being shortened from 10 to 6 weeks (because of the Olympics) it was very quick training and crammed in which was stressful at times - but in general everything was really great and enjoyable.
Everyone was so approachable and easy to get along with!
My line manager was awesome. He guided me through everything, but didn't baby me. All other management were easy to arrange meetings with and happy to answer questions.
Due to the shortened internship I was extremely busy and several intern events taking out half days did make me slightly stressed at times, but I was given support to cope with everything going on.
From day one I was given objectives which I had to achieve and was in control of. Being new to development I did have to ask for help on several occasions, but I did feel like a member of the team rather than a short-term intern.
I learnt so much at Barclays - from computer programming to networking to finance, I have developed skills that will help me throughout my career for the rest of my life.
The Company
Very positive and supportive
The events were fun and enjoyable. Lots to do!
A lot - I felt like they genuinely cared about me. Had training with interns at the beginning of the placement
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Got a job offer!
The Culture
Yes - lots of events organised by interns as well as HR
Canary Wharf/London is expensive!
It's London! Only downside is the expense!
Slight lack of time - especially as I lived an hour and a half commute away but there were intern football matches and various trips!
