The Role
Tough hours to get used to and work is challenging but the people here are friendly, approachable and the work is interesting. You get out of it what you put into it.
The desks I had been placed on were friendly and approachable and gave me responsibility with tasks that I had to do.
I felt I was able to approach my supervisor with issues relating to work and understanding the products on the desk, and with other questions about career progression.
The first few days/week focused on learning about the products and jargon on the desk, which is self motivated. However, the tasks picked up after this inital growth phase.
It is difficult to give any responsibility in terms of trade ideas etc as only interns, dont have necessary qualifications. I was however, given tasks of documentation and spreadsheet work which were to be used by the team.
Although I have now graduated I feel my time at UBS this summer will set me up in a good position for future career progression.
The Company
Good but can be quiet as members of desk are busy. Having the olympics going on definately improved desk interaction!
All well organized given that the Olympics were taking place.
Gave Excel training in first week, UBS training in first week. When on the desk it is again what you put into it.
Unsure if there is a head count
The Culture
Most interns get together on a Friday evening after work.
It is Central London during the olympics - v expensive!!
Ok around Liverpool street, few bars etc, but again can be expensive.
Not really due to desk hours
