The Role
My internship has inspired me to want to work for Mercer in the future, I have thoroughly enjoyed it.
Friendly yet professional colleagues. Socialising outside of work and during Friday lunchtimes helped me to get to know everyone better.
excellent support but left room for me to show using my initiative. Always happy to help when I had questions and feedback on how I was doing/ what they could improve for me etc.
Busy most of the time but some small breaks. Variety of work and different taks made being busy bearable and having a few slower periods helped out too.
Was given tasks to do which were sometimes beyond internship role which was good! I was able to send out calculations I had done to the clients personally and answer any questions they had personally.
Brilliant skills learnt, particularly for the world of work after university. More aimed at beyond university, which is good. A few skills such as presentations etc which can be used for uni work.
The Company
Plenty of opportunities to get involved, particularly with olympic-themed challenges between teams. Great atmosphere.
Good intoductory training at the beginning of the internship and various training throughout, thought out well according to time spent in the work so far, i.e. appropriately placed.
Lots of training/ online tasks to do, similar to Graduate training. So looked after on the same level as employees with regards to personal development.
Company Parties/Events
Want to work for them, since have not finished placement yet the "job with them" situation hasn't come up yet
The Culture
Often went out for lunch on a friday and a few social events after work, particularly to celebrate exam results etc.
Very cheap. I was commuting rather than living, however commuting was cheap- just long.
so far so good!
Offered to come to any events being heold outside of work and asked to come back for future events if wished.
