The Role
Really enjoyed the company and the people but there were days with very little work which made some days drag
I got on well with all my team and felt like I could talk to them about most things
Every piece of work I was given was explained to me in detail and I was always told to ask for help if it was needed
Days varied a lot. some days were very busy, some days I had nothing to do. I was always given work when it was availbale without needing to ask for it, but there was often nothing that I could actually do
Most of the work I was given was work that I would be doing if I was a graduate there, and many of my hours were chargeable to clients.
I want to pursue a career as an actuary and a lot if not the majority of the work I was given there would be what I'd be doing as a graduate
The Company
The atmosphere was very chilled and there was many social events organised, even little ones during the week such as quizzes.
I felt like I was given all the information I needed and wasn't confused about anything organisationally. However I would have liked them to anticipate the lack of work during the summer and have set up some other things to keep us occupied during the quiet times.
There were no actual training sessions other than in the induction however every job I was given involved a lot of learning time where my colleague would concentrate solely on explaining the job to me.
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
There is a possibility of being offered a graduate position at the end of the internship without further assessment or interview.
The Culture
I worked in the London office so there were 4 other interns in my office and 7 in another department. We tried to get together on a weekly basis. There is also a good social committee which organises regular events for all colleagues.
London was very expensive
The office is right by the tower of London so very central with many bars and clubs both for the working community and otherwise.
very active social committee. Also a number of sporting opportunities such as weekly netball for the women and football for the men. I even went Kayaking down the Thames
