The Role
On the whole the days went fairly quickly, which I guess means that it was fairly enjoyable. However, it's not something I can see myself doing 8.30-6 for an indefinite amount of time, the knowledge I was only here for x more weeks kept me positive.
Felt pretty valued although the nature of the work meant I would always be 'just an intern', who could only really perform the more manual tasks rather than conversing with clients, etc.
If I ever needed help on anything, my team members were approachable (although I tried to do things on my own if I could)
My daily tasks only took me around 1 hour in total. The rest of the time went to other activities such as my overarching project, however I never really had to work hard all day and was able to have a slow afternoon if I wanted.
For the tasks where I was sending documents/requests to external people or clients, so if I got them wrong there were consequences. However for alot of tasks, such as my project, there was nothing I really could have screwed up.
I now know what it's like to work in Operations, but due to the limited type of task I performed I didn't gain much other than maybe attention to detail and how to communicate/delegate in the workplace.
The Company
Casual-professional atmosphere which was very friendly and relaxed. E.g. people watching the olympics throughout the day.
Couldn't really ask for more in this department, we were told about everything that we needed to do with plenty of notice.
Everything I used throughout the placement I learned in the first few days.
Seems like a fair few people are offered a job on the back of the internship.
The Culture
Interns from our division got on well and went out for lunch, drinks etc.
Could always go for a meal deal from a supermarket at lunchtime, although drinks after work are always expensive (£4-4.50 a pint).
Lively (cos its London) but again, fairly expensive.
We had one organised volunteering day, and interns were allowed a further day if they wanted.
