The Role
Challenging and enjoyable
Majority of the people in the office were fantastic, incredibly helpful when asking for advice or how to complete a task.
My line manager was always there to help when I had a problem.
For the majority of the internship I was kept busy, there was wonstantly work to be getting on with however I rarely felt I had too much to cope with.
It varies from checking pieces of work to doing calculations and other work directly affecting clients. Most work is checked before being sent to clients, but it's a nice feeling when you are included in e-mail to clients containing the results you produced.
For the first two weeks of the internship there were several training sessions which introduced us to what the company does and how to do certain things. Although it may not directly assist in my degree, if I was to return to the company after my degree, I would definiately feel more comfortable getting on with work with a greater understanding of what I am doing.
The Company
People work hard however also like to have a chat every now and again. May take a bit of time getting used to office etiquette if you have never worked in an office before, however it's nothing to be afraid of.
For the majority of my time, there were always things to do with a range of projects to get on with,
Several 3 hour training sessions during the first couple of weeks of the internship. People were very helpful in giving their time to talk you through projects you were working on.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Positive feedback however not certain.
The Culture
More or less each week there was something going on. We organised a pub quiz as interns, also held a dodgeball event, there was celebration for people who passed exams, rounders tournament and a cricket tournament.
I had a house share costing just over £100 pw however the company help subssdise this. Drinks prices were fairly expensive compared to up north however cheaper than london prices. Around £3.50 for a pint on average.
One club in Reigate, however there were around 5 different pubs which we could go to after work.
Many activities. As said previously, rounders tournament, cricket tournament, football 5-a-side and badminton (every three weeks).
