    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Luckily I was rotated during my placement, so the enjoyment was getting to know new systems/processes in new roles. A lot of my tasks were challenging I and got a real feel of a full time role.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Every colleague I worked with treated me with great respect; I was never undermined or beaten back just because I was an intern. I was allowed to voice all my opinions and make process improvement as well.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Management always happy to give support where needed, but part of the idea of the role is to get on with what you are assigned - feedback and work completed always really helpful, and never felt that feedback was watered down.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • My first two roles were really exciting and fast paced, however my last two roles were slightly slower moving.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • At one point I was given a role while a much more qualified person was being found - this was a great experience!

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have learnt so much about my specific area of business and the way a larger firm can operate in today’s tough economic environment. I received a lot of training on systems and general practice - this will help me no end in the search for a graduate job.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • A quiet office for a specific function that may demand a certain amount of calm - but there is nothing that guarantees you would work in the Main office.

    2/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The whole experience worked quite well, and there was definitely opportunity to get feedback and develop along the Ford guidelines. However it started off fairly slowly, no doubt they have learnt from this.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was given several separate roles that have given me a great breadth of experience and expertise in different areas of my field. I was always provided with the opportunity to develop and move around the function if there was a chance. On hand training and a real business feel to this placement made me feel a very valued member of the team.

    Working from home

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The graduate scheme is very appealing at Ford, and it's a company that is a top competitor globally.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Graduate and Placement student had some great social nights out, and once you get to know who you're working with it's up to you to sort out events...the head office is close to London and offers the Essex nightlife as well.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Good but came at a price. Being so close to London doesn't help the price of living, and Brentwood is a commuter hotspot, so property prices are also slightly inflated,

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Very close to London so no end of options there, and of course Brentwood is the home of the Sugarhut.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • As many as you would want, the company can sponsor employees to get involved in activities outside of work. I got guitar lessons and a ski lesson!
