The Role
Colleagues were very welcoming and felt part of the team all of the time, however, due to the limited amount of useful things you can do it's hard for your colleagues to "value" you when you are of little value.
You have to be proactive, but if you are then generally managers will support you. I had 4 line managers due to the fast pace nature of retail and of the 4, only 1 was unsupportive.
There is little to do somedays but I rarely found myself idle since you can always find somebody willing too let you shadow them, you can always help downstairs, and you can always be getting on with your business project. You wont get "given" much to do - it's up to you.
There is limited responsibility given you can't do much in the branch so you are given a project to keep you occupied.
If you are not good with people, then this internship will either develop those skills in you or is not for you. I'm a natural people person so I didnt develop too many skills. You do get to meet some impressive and inspirational managers and leaders within the company though, I will take away much of their advice.

The Culture
Had some opportunity to get to know other interns and we all got on very well. Had a few nights out...
Complained about having to travel too far and credit to HSBC was transferred closer to home almost immediately. Should have been closer from the start though. Be vocal before you start, say what you want and pester!
Hometown so good for me since I knew it well, but also get the chance to go out in london and leeds ect.
Charity work and community events are encouraged.
