The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Cisco in London... I have a passion for networks and working at one of the biggest network structure organisations was a great pleasure...
my colleagues were very knowledgeable, and to be agknowledged by them and for them to take time out to show me the ways was well appreciated. I felt like part of the Cisco Family
My supervisor was always on hand to offer support, management were not to be seen however were always available should one wish (I never did!) but they were very supportive and not one bad word was said about any one in the heirachy.
my daily routine varied, i had tasks for different departments I was running adhoc scripts on networks and testing solutions. A lot of the time was in support assisting corporate colleagues.
I was given a vast amount of responsibility, however at times i was chapperoned in my work. However, most of the time i was responsible for my own work and challenges.
I learnt more interpersonal skills, and time management skills rather then skills for my degree. However it was all worthwhile and will not be taken as worthless placement
The Company
It was an open plan office, so different people sat in different offices daily.. it was always fun as you never knew who you may bump into and what story they may have to tell
the placement was structured, however it allowed for the supervisors to deviate (this was kinda a drawback for some students) as the emphasis then got pushed to you to make the placement how you wanted it to be.
the company gave a lot of time to train, show new products and generally make us feel like employees rather then intern students.

The graduate route at cisco is more tailored and it is more challenging to get into, I don't know if the intern will help me get back in however i would like to work with them again. I know for fact it will be difficult though
The Culture
students had a regular meet up session on Fridays, during the week there were other activities such as football or table tennis. This was interesting as it got the girls and guys together.
London is very expensive to socialise in, most of the time the socialising took place at placemetn student accommodation.
City of london was at my doorstep, so always available to go out into the city and find restaurants (all types) and bars (all genres of music)
We had football and table tennis, other activities were near by however the two i took part in was tennis and football.
