    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Towards the end of the placement I found a really good role and I very much enjoyed it. The start was the hardest part by far. The only reason I have not scored higher is the first couple months.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I always felt at home with other IP's and graduates and with all of my team members I worked with. Logica has a very friendly atmosphere and you are treated like a friend a lot of the time rather than a colleague.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • To start with I felt a bit isolated due to Logica's "Bench" system where you have to find work yourself. Being an IP I struggled to find work as project managers believed as I was only short time I wasn't worth having over graduates. However on everything else management helped especially when I was on a project.

    2/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • This has scored avaerage again due to my first few months. In the beginning I didn't have much work to do as I was unassigned I tried to keep busy but it was hard. Whilst on projects I had busy periods and quiet periods but I was happy with the amount of work whilst on a project.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was constantly presenting in front of external people and had to organise these external events so I was given quite a lot of responsibility more than I thought I would before starting my placement.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I believe I improved upon my business skills and knowledge and definitely learned stuff that I will use in my degree studies. I don't feel I improved my technical skills which I would have liked to do but am happy that I can look on to my dissertations with some sort of preperation.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very friendly always someone to talk to. There was a lot of graduates so you can always have a chat with someone and ask for help if need be. Can alos go to the coffee point and talk to people there.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Not very organised I believe it would have been a lot better if IP's had a project to start on when they join or managers are forced to take them on.

    2/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There wasn't much training available I feel my improvements were due to asking people who were not my supervisors. There is online training available but it seemed t crash when I used it.

    2/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    Working from home

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Going back as a graduate I think it will be a lot easier and I will have more opportunities as I already have contacts. It is quite appealing and as long as Logica can meet the requirements I want after graduation I am more than happy to go back.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes definitely. People were very friendly and nights out were arranged most weekends. I went on a number of trips with my colleagues outside of the work place even people higher up in the company.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Normal costs you would expect.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife is quite good. It's a change from university but it's as good as it can be, more relaxed I'd say

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes many. There is a sports and social society that give you discount so we quite often went on day trips or on sports events. There is a annual football world cup and ski trips among other things. It is similar to university of you get 6 or more people you can get discount for whatever you want.
