The Role
When the placement first started, I was primarily completing the tasks as set out in my monthly timetable. However, as the year progressed and I demonstrated my ability in using the systems effectively, I was allocated additional responsibility to ensure that I was kept busy.
VWG-UK encompasses a dedicated Learning and Development function which gives students the opportunity to enhance their personal and professional development. So for example, I was able to attend an advanced MS Excel training course which has without a doubt, made me more proficient in using the software to analyse large amounts of complex data.
The Company
Great atmosphere. Everyone got on very well, even during the busy periods.
Constant communication from the HR department and management teams. In addition, all students were invited to a familiarisation day prior to starting their placement and this was definitely advantageous as it gave everyone a chance to see who they’d be working with and where.
I was able to attend numerous training courses and I also received a large amount of on-the-job training.

I will definitely be looking to apply to VWG-UK. They have just started their graduate scheme again and this looks very appealing indeed.
The Culture
I was actually staying at home during the course of my placement but after speaking to some of the other students living in Milton Keynes, I was told that the cost of living and socialising was fairly reasonable.
