The Role
Overall, Ford is very supportive of employees, and treat placement students no differently. The work given was challenging and interesting
The team I worked with were very helpful, and would answer any questions without making me feel small. Equally, they often would ask me questions on things I was working on, and trusted my judgement
The management in Ford supports development of people, and have various processes and tools in place to help support employees, including students
Some days were busier than others. You were never expected to work outside of your working hours, and the job had a very good work/life balance. There were very few days where there was too little to do, making me bored
I was given ownership of some very visible launches to an application, which was a lot of responsibility to get them right
The skills I have learned will defiantly benefit me later in my degree & future jobs
The Company
Overall, people in the office were friendly, and there would often be informal conversations going on
At the start of the year, the organisation for the placement wasn't excellent, but this was likely a result of being the first student for several years. As time passed, the organisation got much better, and will probably be better for future students
There were many processes and tools to use for personal development and training. There was a wide selection of online training courses, which could be carried out if you had a spare moment.

Working from home
There are many points of working for Ford which I would like to continue, including work/life balance, and the option for job rotation after 18-24 months of working in a job
The Culture
Students and graduates tended to organise social events regularly. The graduates set up a group to handle larger-scale events, and organised these to be 1 a month. There were also several events set up by others in the office, which all were welcome to
Due to being close to London, prices for most things were pretty high - especially when used to student prices. Things like rent etc. were quite expensive, but could easily be reduced by flat-sharing
I didn't really seek out the nightlife where I was, but I was told by others that it was pretty good
The company encourages employees to get involved in the community, both in and outside of work. There were also a great selection of clubs (football, photography etc.) available to participate in after work
