The Role
I really enjoyed many parts of the internship, the general moral in the firm is relatively high and the work ethic is good
My team was always friendly and didn't mind helping me out and answering questions
Initial introduction to how everything worked was good, feedback however was non-existent right until the end of the placement
Took a few days to pick up but in general kept nicely busy over the entire course of the internship.
All work has to be checked by someone else (standard company policy), so I was able to do actual work and was given a good level of exposure given the limited skills I had going into it.
I learnt a lot about genuine time management (at any one time you may have 10 tasks with 10 different deadlines, organisation actually matters), plus a lot about markets etc which will help with my degree.
The Company
Generally positive, quite a young enthusiastic team so the office was rarely boring, a few complaints about various clamp downs the firm was doing but otherwise pretty happy.
Within my office I would give this 10/10, they sorted everything very well, however the overarching HR were pretty uncommunicative about various things which lets it down.
They give you 3 days training initially and then I went on a couple of other training days otherwise (not specific to interns but relevant nonetheless).
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
They take on 50% of interns roughly, although a lot more depends on the situation which the team you go for are in. My team has a relatively high turnover and plenty of work so opportunities within this team are comparatively higher.
The Culture
There were 3 other interns in the whole office, and ~65 country wide. You meet everyone in the first 3 days but after that I only maintained contact with my charity project team.
I lived at home and could walk to work which was ideal. It's Bristol so going out is reasonable, although I spent many weekends in my placement in London which is obviously more expensive
Bristol's alright, plenty to do, pretty cheap.
Nothing really through the firm, but I didn't mind that given that I was living at home.
