The Role
OVerall really enjoyable experience. Always looked forward to coming in
I was really welcomed by the whole department and I always felt valued. I got on with everyone really well and they always chatted to me like we were friends.
Occasionally felt like I could have been given more guidance by my manager who mostly left the task of giving me work to someone else.
Some days were really busy, but manageable. But some days were slightly more boring with not a lot going on and I found myself at a bit of a loose end.
As the weeks went by I was trusted with more and more jobs. Enjoyed being in charge of my own work
Not hugely relevant to my degree (English) but definitely after university I will need a lot of the skills I have learned here, including effective communication and networking
The Company
Great mixture of work hard, play hard
Slightly unclear as to who was my manager and who I should report to. Also felt sometimes as if no one had things for me to do. Would have been nice to have a clear plan for each week to experience as many different aspects of the department as possible
Individuals spent time trying to help me learn and understand and the technical training day was valuable knowledge for the industry but could have had more in the way of training throughout the placement
Company Parties/Events
Really hope I get the opportunity to join their graduate scheme, fingers crossed!
The Culture
Social opportunities were varied and regular but could have had more organised events for interns, perhaps to meet everyone in your regional office.
Central London very expensive but some good deals on - happy hour etc
Plenty of bars restaurants and clubs to choose from
Probably more opportunities if I was here more long term but not much to do over my 9 weeks
