The Role
I really enjoyed my time within the firm, and am hoping if it is possible to work for them in the future.
Everyone was really welcoming and seemed to not mind having a summer student working with them - it's always nice to feel like you aren't a hassle and getting in the way.
I had a buddy/champion throughout my time who organised who I was working with every week and introduced me to everyone I needed to know. Then the managers I worked with were extremely helpful and welcoming as were the young graduates.
I was very busy on a daily basis, but I was never expected to work outside the hours of 09.00 and 17.30 and was always given a decent lunch break!
From day one I was given responsibility on helping complete work alongside the managers I was working with. You did get thrown into it, but that is the best way to learn, and I felt I could ask any questions whenever I wanted no matter how silly they sounded.
Coming from a science based background the skills I learnt in the office will obviously not help me in my degree but if I do decide to go into the Accounting and Finance industry, the skills I gained on this placement will be crucial.
The Company
Everyone in the office was lovely, and were always willing to answer questions and help wherever they could.
From my first day I was given a schedule of where I was to be at the beginning of every week. Of course in a firm like Deloitte things can change on a daily basis, but I was always informed of changes.
There was no actual training as such, it was mainly just learning the skills needed for the trade as you went along.

Future prospects look good for me as I extremely enjoyed my placement and I applying for the graduate scheme.
The Culture
The other Interns were lovely both in the edinburgh office and glasgow office. We all got to meet at the induction week and have kept up since. Deloiite also organised events for us all to get together and meet other young graduates.
Being at university in Glasgow it was a bot of a shock on my first night out in Edinburgh! But if you know the right places to go, anywhere in Scotland the price of a nigh out is roughly the same.
There are lots of lovely pubs/restaurants very close to the office as were the night clubs! Edinburgh is generally a nice place to live.
The interns were always invited to all the events that were happening outside of work.
