The Role
I was given challenging work to do and contributed to a real project in my time.
A lot of emphasis was placed on me in terms of what I wanted to do and get out of the internship. I was assigned both a buddy and a mentor who were my first points of contact for questions and assistance.
There were regular meetings and catch up sessions to ensure that I was on track and I was never left in the dark.
There were peaks and troughs, but that is due to the nature of the work I was doing and there was always work found for me when a trough could be identified early.
I was doing a real job and making real changes to a final application.
I have gained a valuable insight into the application of what I've been learning at Uni so it has proven fo great use to me.
The Company
Hard work but generally everyone was very friendly and wanted to help/chat.
Apart from the intial teething problems that any new-start would go through, it was very well organised.
They assigned me an extremely experienced developer, effectively cutting her time out of the budget to focus on my work. We combined into "one" developer and could only contribute 3 hours per day to a task instead of the usual 5, so a massive amount of money and resource was invested in me.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Potential for 2 year graduate place.
The Culture
We were given multiple chances to meet up with each other, and eventualy took it into our own hands as we became friends.
Plenty of clubs and teams available.
