The Role
I really enjoyed the internship and found it to be very worthwhile!
I was really welcomed into the team that I was working with and felt like I'd become a part of it and was invited along to any evenings they had organised.
The support provided by both my manager and 'buddy' was great and I never felt awkward asking for help if I needed it.
The business really depended on what work I had set but I never felt bored or under pressure because I had too much work to do.
I feel like I was given some actual responsibility which made the internship great!
I was able to relate my degree to the internship and vice versa which was really useful.
The Company
Throughout my internship my team had some evenings out organised and Aon themselves had organised some events that we could attend so there was lots of fun things to do!
Really well set up and it was easy to talk to someone if you had any queries. The induction week was a good introduction into the firm and helped show us who to contact etc. We then had regular interviews with our line managers to check our progress and give any concerns we had which were really well organised.
On the induction week we had a training day which the company had organised for us which helped bring us up to date on what we would be working with which was a good investment. Also throughout the internship people were happy to spend time going through things to make sure that you had the help you needed. The internship hopefully leads to a graduate position so we were treated like we would be working with Aon for longer than 9 weeks which was great!
Company Parties/Events
The internship is a lead into the graduate programme and we find out in the final week whether we will be offered a job, which is great because its a good sense of security knowing you have a job to come back to after university!
The Culture
A few nights out were organised but it was hard to co-ordinate between all the interns as everyone was in different departments and offices so finding a time to suit everyone became difficult.
Because of the Olympics accommodation was extremely expensive and hard to find in London but apart from that everything was pretty standard for London.
East London is a really cool place to go out with loads of cool bars and Brick Lane isn't too far from the offices either.
There were opportunities to go on nights out that had been organised with the teams which was fun and Aon had organised an event to celebrate the Olympics which was a good night!
