The Role
Asked for power related project and was given two quite interesting projects and put in a very friendly and helpful team.
Slightly sat away from main team so was a bit harder to integrate but overall they were very friendly and i made some great friends with some of the other interns who i will definately be keeping in touch with.
Had some niggles about HR not making some things clear (that we could get feedback, etc..) but overall my team management was very good.
Some days slightly slow when waiting for info but on those occasions there was a great opportunity for extra background reading.
I was pretty much put in charge of two projects, one of which involved dealing with various people from all over the world - very exciting!
More knowledge on power theory and applications, totally improved networking skills.
The Company
Pretty quiet, would have been a lot better to have more team activities, nights out, etc.
My team were totally prepared for my arrival! However, i was a special case in that i was only finishing 3rd year (of a 5 year course) when i arrived and no-one really knew my circumstances or what to do with me in form of assessment centre, etc. But in the way of projects, desk, laptop, etc it was excellent!
Technical development was greatly improved, however it would have been better to have been offered more training on some aspects as i learned a lot through personal reading not through any company iniatives. Apart from small presentation practice no other real training offered (except lunch & learns).
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Looks like it'd be a great company to work for! Although they've cut down seriously on ex-pat's which is disappointing as thats what i am aiming for.
The Culture
The girls i lived with were FANTASTIC but there are a lot of interns who are just here to work (which wasnt us...!)
Its London - you've got to expect the higher prices! Lots to do in surrounding area though.
Quite quiet in Sunbury, also in area's they recommend you to stay (bad plan, find something central instead of what they tell you!) As soon as you go slightly further central though its awesome.
Apart from a couple of smaller things organised by the interns themselves there was nothing.
