The Role
The work experience gave me a great introduction into the audit world. It was interesting as working in audit means that no two days are the same.
The humourous and amicable nature of my colleagues put me at ease in approaching them with questions about the work I was doing and also made it more enjoyable.
Any query I had, I felt comfortable approaching a colleague of any level as everyone is friendly.
As the audit busy season is over, there was not a strenuous amount of work to do and the atmosphere was quite relaxed.
I was given many tasks which contributed to the overall annual report as well as calling banks and chasing them for bank letters.
The skills I have developed and the things I have learnt have enhanced my knowledge of the systems used in audit, as well as aiding me in applying for graduate jobs in the future.
The Company
Great humour and people were really easy to get on with
The induction was very well organised and it provided a good chance to get to know the interns. Overall, the internship was structured very well.
Colleagues made sure I knew exactly what I was doing if I was given work and on away jobs, i was provided with overnight accomodation and travelling/lunch costs at client sites
Subsidised Canteen
Having been introduced to KPMG, the prospects of working for the company are very appealing
The Culture
It was difficult as a lot of the other interns lived at home whereas I stayed at my university house. A lot of colleagues worked at different client sites/had exams but time was created for social drinks/events.
In comparison to London, Birmingham is a very cheap place to go out.
As I attend uni in Birmingham, it was easy to know all the right places to go
I would've liked to have been more involved in sporting for the company but there were oppurtunities for other things.
