The Role
Enjoyed the operations aspect of working on site but would like to experience working in a design team as well.
Close knit asset management team, very willing to help.
Support available when ask for it.
Work load depends on the asset. If there is an asset emergency the worl load increases.
Was given real projects, acted as job responsible engineer for various plant modifications and handled relations with outside contractors.
Was given presentation skills training and learnt many communication skills. Developed knowledge on safety aspects of working on site and safety integrated into site design and operational procedures. Working on site led to the realisation of many things studied at university.
The Company
Everyone was friendly and helpful and always willing to help out. Everyone was very approachable.
The projects I worked on integrated well with what other members of the team were doing and the objectives set were achievable within the timescale.
Offered presentation training courses and online learning courses.
Flexi Time
National Travel
Having spent time at the company I would like to work for them in the future. There is an Assessment centre at the end of the placement which decides whether or not you will be offered a graduate job.
The Culture
Worked with one other intern and a couple of graduates, although there weren't many people in the same age group, the social scene was enjoyable, the work location was near Edinburgh which had the festival on during my placement so there was plenty to do around the city.
The cost of living and socialising was reasonable for a capital city (stayed in Edinburgh city, work was about a 30 min drive).
There was lot's to do in and around Edinburgh especially when the festival was on.
Lot's of opportunities during the festival to watch shows and lot's of outdoor activities around the area.
