The Role
The internship has gone by really quickly and I generally looked forward to each day.
All my colleaques were really friendly and made me feel very welcome.
I had regular meetings with my manager and he was very approachable.
The amount of work I had each day varied, but I felt at times that I had very little to do which would make the day drag. The ongoing intern charity project ensured that there was usually something that could be worked on.
A good level. I was given responsibility which felt daunting early on, but as time went on became very managaeble and ensured that I would be tested from day to day.
I have developed a large array of skills over the past 9 weeks. Most specifically teamwork from the charity project, communication skills and an invaluable experience of the working environment.
The Company
Perfect balance. Plenty of tea, coffes and cake, the odd laugh but importantly a good working environment.
Well organised induction but I had difficulties accessing some online resources. Felt that there wasn't always enough work for me to do, but this is more likely due to it being a quiet period in the office.
Had a three day induction in London which was generally useful. Colleaques were happy to explain work and answer any questions that I had.
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
I understand that Aon offer an excellent graduate scheme which a significant of interns are offered places on. Graduates are well supported through actuary examinations.
The Culture
We all got on fine, but lived in different areas. Had the occasional post work drink and met up at lunch.
I was staying in my university accomodaion which I had over summer anyway.
Birmingham has plenty of options.
Played 5 a side football every week and competed in the 'Aon Fives' tournament in Manchester.
