The Role
Work was good, but not too challenging.
We'd socialise together frequently.
He was new to his management job and so I gave him development feedback too to help him with his new role.
Work was often in chunks set by deadlines or you'd get 3 phonecalls in the same day for example so sometimes you'd have not much to do, and other times you'd have to work overtime.
I ran 2 projects which I was entirely the lead for.
Certified for Lean six sigma green belt. Although not related to technical degrees, it is very useful in general
The Company
Very nice work environment, as the people were fun to work with.
Needed guidance from the beginning, however we were the first group of interns and so were "guinea pigs" to some extent for the company to develop what they need to in terms of intern recruitment.
I took some company training for lean six sigma green belt certification, but everything else was done on my own time.
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Healthcare from home
Would definitely like to work for them in the future, as they are great for developing leadership.
The Culture
frequent nights out and social gatherings, not only amongst the interns but also the permanent staff
Not too bad, though city centre can be a bit pricey.
Didn't go out much in the immediate area, but the local city nightlife is good.
GE has many activities such as volunteering and also "health ahead" health and fitness related activities such as cycle rides, triathlon etc.
