The Role
The placement was absolutely brilliant. The atmosphere within the office was great and everyone made a real effort to make me feel welcome. The work was also really interesting and my colleagues provided me with worthwhile and interesting work which made the experience so much better.
I was asked to go to a number of nights out, lunches and dinners which was great. In my first day in the office I was asked to play five-a-side football so I felt involved right from the off.
I was regularly given feedback and advice from my supervisors and management which allowed me to improve my performance as I progressed through the placement.
I generally had plenty of work to do but not to the extent where it was not manageable. There were a couple of days where there wasn't much work but they did not occur very often.
I was given various opportunities to engage with clients and also listen in on a variety of conference calls. I was also given the responsibility to get on with the work I was given on my own or with othere colleagues without constant supervision.
I have learned so much throughout my placement both in terms of working skills and life skills. My knowledge of what the company does and the different areas within the company has increased massively. The whole experience was definitely worthwhile and more importantly it was really enjoyable!!!
The Company
There was a brilliant friendly and vibrant atmosphere and everyone made me feel welcome. It wasn't all fun and games though as there are times where the work needs to be done but there is very much a work hard, play hard culture within the firm.
The internship was organised brilliantly. The induction at the Belfry ran like clockwork and it was very well run. On the first day at the office there were people waiting on us to introduce us to the firm and the office. The colleagues who were looking after us always put in huge amounts of effort to ensure that we had plenty of interesting work to do which was brilliant.
The firm invested a lot in me particularly at the induction where we participated in a days team building and provided a lot of training throughout the internship with regards to the processes and the work.
Company Parties/Events
I have an interview coming up in the next week and I am feeling confident of getting a job.
The Culture
Yes we often went out for a drink and watched the Olympics and the football. We also went to the driving range and things like that.
I worked in Aberdeen so it was quite expensive but not so expensive that you were not able to go out and if you go to the right places it won't cost you too much.
Aberdeen actually has a great nightlife, even nights during the week there seemed to be a lot of people out.
There were a few opportunities such as the five-a-side football.
